Here’s oldnotdead...
By prove it I mean 3 things.
1. First and foremost that he can stay healthy. He missed 2 games in 2017, 5 games in 2018 and battled nagging issues all season last year.
2. Return to consistency with his kicks. 2016 86.4%, 2017 95%, 2018 87% and in 2019 72.7% with 2 kickoffs OOB. That's a big dropoff. More importantly, when you break down his misses disturbingly he was only 5 of 11 (45.5%) in distances of 40-49 yds. That was a huge dropoff over his career numbers. His OOB kicks coupled with his inaccuracy in the 40's is reason for concern. Any other kicker would not be re-signed.
3. He will be 33 in December. How much longer can he play? Was last year an aberration or the beginning of the end?
The bottom line is McVay needs to drill down on the cause for Greg's issues. Age, injury, or both related? It's not what you would expect from a veteran in a contract year. The kicking game is far too important, as it cost probably 2 games.
