No one would give up even a 7th and then turn around and accept that contract.

I was against this when the Rams did it. Not because Gurley wasn't an elite RB. But rather because RBs typically don't last, and because a 2 or 3 good RBs of different styles is better for a team overall (and cheaper) than 1 elite one.

The idea that Gurley would be traded or cut is ludicrous. The cap hit alone would be devastating. The man isn't a cripple and considering the amount of playing time and the poor run blocking Oline in front of him, he had a pretty decent year. If this is all they ever get out of him going forward, no doubt the huge contract was a mistake. But, that doesn't mean they have to take the cap hit and create a vacancy for which they also have to pay another players and use more cap space.

There is no reasonable logic or business decision to trade or cut him...... and no one would have any incentive to trade for him anyway.
