I will tell you this. That offense resembled nothing like the Rams and also in the NFL, many times, it comes down to a handful of plays and having some good gut instincts and willingness to risk looking foolish to go for the W. McVay has it. LaFleur does not.
And while on paper 13-3 should get him coach of the year especially with the bla playmakers and average offensive line. I see him like the Vikings coach. Play it safe, get the team to the playoffs, but never get to that higher level of excellence because you are too worried about failure.
That game was lost when he punted on 4th and 1 at the 50 on the very first drive. It was over. The mindset was set.
Maybe that changes if he gets players that he believes in, but I don't think it will.
