Vic's defense generally runs his interior DL in 3T, 1T, 5T just like Wade's defense, with one-gap responsibilities. There are numerous recent articles that break this down although some of them confuse the basic issue in how it is explained. But he also is a student of the game and has a tendency to change things up for his opponents like we saw in the 6-1 vs our outside zone game.
Either way and since I believe our new DC was hired due to allow for a more varied approach who knows what he's going to do week to week. Staley is his own guy so he might want to play more two-gap with his nose tackle on early downs for example if he thinks SJD can do that. He already has insinuated that AD will be moved around, which he has been tbh, but fresh ideas and approach are part of the hire IMO.
