or maybe I purposely blacked it out.
He was a poor fit as I recall and it was a dumpster fire.
Yeah, McDaniels isn't my favorite coordinator. On a side note, I cannot figure out why Bienemy, the KC OC hasn't gotten a HCing gig yet. Its sad really.
There was a lockout that season and as a result the team could not practice or even see playbooks so they did not begin learning the new offense until July 25th.
And then according to Football Outsiders the Rams had so many injuries that year they were the league's single most injured offense since 2002.
It got so bad this was just one of many typical stories---with injuries at qb the Rams signed Kellen Clemens off waivers on Dec. 7th and he ended up starting on Dec. 18th. And then got injured in the final game. The qb who actually finished the season was rookie Tom Brandstater. (Yes the same Tom Brandstater the Hall of Fame voters keep inexplicably overlooking.)
I didn't like McDaniels one bit at that point. The reason he was available in the first place was because he had been fired by Denver, and I didn''t like how he handled things in Denver. When he was with the Rams it was obvious he was a poor teacher and impatient with a team that stuggled with his offense. But all that aside, it was just a train wreck of a year on top of it.
Actually the injuries went further than the offense. The Rams actually ended up starting 10 different CBs that year because they all kept getting injured.
