The NFL game is constantly in motion, constantly evolving.

Coaches can't sit still and think it's all good. You need to be ahead of the curve and willing to innovate new ideas each year. Staying stagnant is not an option.

McVay see's what he wants this defense to look like. Thus, he's going to get a new DC with new ideas, new philosophies and make the "D" unit better!
