I sorta consider them a reason why I am a Rams fan. I used to REALLY hate Dallas back when I was a very young Dolphins fan, here in Jacksonville. Then came 4th grade. There were 2 kids in my class that were cocky as hell about the Cowboys. They got on my nerves and I REALLY wanted Dallas to go down simply to shut them up. On Dec 19, 1976, me, my Dad and Brothet, put up our Christmas tree as we watched the Rams beat Dallas 14 to 12 in the playoffs. I was hooked!! Looking up to my late Brother's opinion, I too, thought the Rams jerseys looked so cool. My only clear memories of that game are Haden's TD run, the Rams D going nuts after a HUGE 4th down stop by a chain link, VERY late in the game....and the Rams Punter taking a Safety as time expired.
Like everyone else, I was sick to see the Rams lose 28 to 0 in the 78 Title. That game was much closer than the score.
THENNNNNNNN.......The 1979 playoffs!! The Rams have won a Super Bowl since, been to a few others. In the 40 years since, I have seen thousands of Rams plays. But to this day........Vince to Waddy is my ALL TIME favorite Rams play. It was so huge in such a huge game. Without sappy details, that play/ game came during a really down time in my life. It was therapy. I will always remember blasting through our front screen door and running a lap around the cul de sac we lived on, simply yelling.... "WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! RAMS RAMS RAMS!!!!!! Heck, I'm grinning right now.
