We faced top rated D line after top rated D line in the beginning of the season
If you go by this stat--pressure percentage--(defined as percentage of hits, hurries, and sacks per dropback)--the Rams have faced 4 defenses that were ranked top 10. By the end of the season they will have played 6 (including SF twice).
Current rankings after week 14
Pitt. ranked 1st
SF ranked 2nd
N.O. ranked 5th
Chicago ranked 6th
Dallas ranked 7th
(Rams btw are ranked 3rd.)
The new OL, with 3 replacements and Blythe at center, faced 1 of those--Chicago. They won. It will soon face Dallas and then SF again.
The previous, much more subpar OL that began the season in week 1 suffered from both OTs regressing (Whit has since then gotten it together) and starting two newbies at the same time. It faced 3 of the top 10 pressure Ds--the Saints, SF, and Pitt. It won one of those games. It struggled against SF and Pitt.
Though to be fair against Pitt, they had 2 injury replacements during the game and 1 prior to the game. The OL may be playing well so far with those replacements starting since then, but generally having to replace multiple starters DURING a game does not promise you good OL play.
