I don't think he's being lumped in with that group on the basis of the one game with the Ravens.
We fans, including skeptics, have watched him a long time now. It's silly to assume anyone is talking about one game.
Guess you missed the sarcasm
Just making a point that the Ravens have been blowing out teams now five weeks in a row... no need to go off the deep end after last nights game.
I was there in person, that beat down had little to do with Goff.
I'm not even sure why you're mentioning the Ravens. The OP's post could have been posted last week, the week before, or next week.
Focus my friend. This was general point that had nothing to do with the Ravens. What's happening is, people are starting to question if Goff is really the answer.
And those people have no clue of what they are seeing then... the kid was one of the best QB’s in the game in 2017-18 with a 110 rating, two pro bowls and a NFC championship
You don’t just forget how to play QB over night.... it’s pretty obvious to anybody that this line is one of the worst in the NFL and was rated that pretty much all year with little to no running threat... did you expect him to thrive in that situation?
This is the ultimate team sport, always has been always will be....
I refuse to believe he just lost it....it is a myopic view point to think like that imo
Reasonable minds can disagree.
My biggest concerns with him are data points from 2018 when he had a well performing line that was healthy and experienced. Even then, when he played good defenses, he hasn't done well.
I agree that he probably didn't forget how to play QB over night. Previously I thought that he was borderline elite. But that was when he was essentially surrounded by elite units across the board. Top 3 performing OL, elite RB, league best WR core, and an elite HC with a brilliant and shiny new scheme.
I've got to question how good he really is when he can only do well if he has ALL of that. Elite QBs can lack some of those things and still do amazingly well.
I'm leaning now towards concluding that I overestimated him. I don't know that he lost it; I'm wondering now if he ever had it.
I think it is a number of things really....
It all starts up front, we all know that especially for a pocket passer like Goff
It also looks quite obvious that the lack of running threat has made it much easier for teams to just sit back and play the pass. That is not good at all for any QB
McVay is awesome, love the guy, but he seems to have become pretty predictable...there doesn’t seem to be the creativity we once had the pleasure of watching on Sundays and teams seem to have found a way to limit our explosive plays.
Goff is not immune to any of this, he has made some bad throws this year and ball security. He seems to try and wait for the play to develop sometimes when he just can’t do that with the protection problems.... but this stuff happens against good defense...anybody see Rodgers last Sunday night?
Having said that, I fully expect the Rams offense to look much better this week against a weaker defense.
I’m not giving up on the kid just yet
