The tuck rule is a red herring. Woodson dislodged the ball, Brady wasn’t throwing a pass. The call on the field was a fumble and the call on the overturn was an incomplete pass.
I’ve seen that same dislodging of the ball on quarterbacks decades before that play. It was a fumble. The tuck rule had no bearing on Woodson causing Brady to fumble. That was not an incomplete pass and no misapplied reference to an inapplicable rule is going to make it an incomplete pass. That was a fumble.
I will not let the NFL defraud reality. There is an insurmountable gap between an incomplete pass and having the ball dislodged from a player intending to make a pass.
