Redskins selected Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander with a sixth-round pick in the 2018 supplemental draft.
The Redskins will surrender a 2019 sixth-rounder. Western Michigan CB Sam Beal was taken in the third round by the Giants, and Beal had clearly separated himself from Alexander as the draft's top prospect. Alexander stands 6'2/195 but ran a 4.60 forty at his Pro Day with a 35.5-inch vertical and just nine bench-press reps. He had a number of off-field issues in college and was ruled academically ineligible before declaring for the supplemental draft. He's merely a late-round flier who should get at least one year to stick at the end of the roster. Alexander is unlikely to make a rookie-year impact barring injuries.

Multiple outlets are reporting that the Washington Redskins have selected Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander in the sixth round of the 2018 supplemental draft.
Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, the Giants selected Western Michigan CB Sam Beal with a third-round supplemental selection. Alexander (6'2/195) is next off the board, with the Redskins forfeiting their sixth-rounder next spring in order to acquire him. While he has nice size, the Virginia Tech product is not a super-explosive athlete. He's at least worked to try to clean up his reputation, having reportedly tested clean over the past eight months -- including a test last week -- after being popped for marijuana possession in 2016.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander passed his drug test last week.
Even more encouraging than the result of this solitary test, Garafolo passes along that Alexander has been in the clear on drug tests over the past eight months, as he's looking to convince NFL teams that his arrest for marijuana possession in April of 2016 was an anomaly, rather than the tip of the iceberg. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is tracking toward a possible mid-round selection in Wednesday's supplemental draft after earlier this summer declaring following his being ruled academically ineligible for the upcoming college season.
