As bad of a year as Gurley's had, he's still averaging 4.1 ypc. Not MVP level like before but not cause for abandoning the run. Also, Gurley has home run potential and has had his touches cut in half. Who knows what would have happened in those other hundred touches? Now, maybe he should be making the most of his opportunities but IMO, the timing and infrequency of his carries has been much more problematic than whatever physical decline he may or may not be experiencing.
It's the same old thing. McVay needs to call less predictable plays, tailor the play calling to the personnel on hand and stick with the running game even if it isn't producing 60 yard, highlight reel runs.
He's really starting to mimic Martz in a bad way. All I know is, there are enough pieces on this team, right this moment, that better play calling would net more than pathetic 3 point efforts like against NE in the SB and last week in PITT.
