Talib was trending down; Peters didn't fit well with Wade's D

In both cases, the Rams wanted to upgrade.
And they wanted guys who more fit with Wade's D: pass rushing front 7, press man CBs.

Talib was press man, but his skills were trending down and his injury history was growing. Age takes its toll. And (I think this is key) bringing in Wettle gave the Rams the veteran presence that Talib had supplied for the secondary.

Peters turned out not to be the press man guy the Rams were looking for.

Rams clearly didn't want to pay either one of them the big bucks they were likely to demand on the open market or for an extension after this year.

Snead is a swing for the fences kind of a guy. He took a chance because he saw an opportunity. Didn't know if it would work out or not, but clearly felt there was a decent chance of it. Ramsey is 24 years old and a great press man corner who is also an overall physical player. Hill is turning out to be a good press man CB, and the CBs behind them are also press man.

From Snead's viewpoint, this was about making the D better, and doing it in the mold of what Wade wants.
