I think the rules are fair. People act like defense doesn't exist. A defense has a great opportunity to either end the game with a touchdown or force a turnover and put its offensive in position to win the game with a field goal.
I agree. I think the NFL has done a good job in coming to a fair compromise. When it used to be the first team who scores, wins, it was unfair considering how far FG kickers can kick now.
But if your defense can't stop a team from driving all the way down and scoring a TD, you didn't earn the chance to continue and conversely, the other team earned a victory.
I can't stand the college overtime setup.
