The cap space they get from the trade is more valuable to them than the 5th round pick they had to include in the deal. Talib wasn't coming back to at least week 15 at the earliest, and evidently he wasn't playing well even when healthy.
Snead could pick up another pick in a draft day trade easily.....he can always manufacture more picks if he wants.....done it many times.
