I don't disagree that this version of Todd Gurley is not the one we're used to.
However: this idea that he is "done" or has little value or has to be relegated to the bench isn't rational.
He is the de facto leader in the RB room. He is still a solid RB and an exceptional pass blocker and receiver. I claim a good part of his diminished production is poor Oline play.
To humiliate him by making him an after thought or only a complementary player would destroy any chance of getting any value out of him. And the Rams have little choice but to do what they can to get the most they can out of him for the next 2 years or face cap ruin.
Injuries happen. It is entirely unpredictable. I was totally against giving him a huge contract because RBs regularly get injured...... seriously. But, now that he has that huge contract, and injury has affected him, it has to be managed accordingly. Turning him into a disgruntled player, not using him, or cutting him is simply not in the cards. Logic has to rule; not emotion. And that seems to be what the Rams are (correctly) doing.
