Peters has shut down great WRs all game before, Evans was shut down in this game but for one stupid stupid play that resulted in a TD.
Talib did get roughed up a bit in this game, but he is still a great versatile CB that is a rarity in this league as he can play press or zone. He is getting older so it is natural he would lose a step.
I think Talib's age and Peters' inconsistency is why neither of them have more than 1-year contracts. It would be great if Peters could be his best game in and game out and throughout the game as well. He has the ability to be one of the top corners in the league, but the reason he doesn't have a long contract is not because he sucks, it is because he has not shown the ability to do what he does consistently.
Ideally we have both back, that would mean Peters mentally matured and Talib settles in to a new role as an elder statesman. That would mean Peters price would go up and Talibs would come down. That is the best case. Worst case is Peters never figures it out and Talib gets old but wants young money and play time and they both are gone next year.
All in all we will need to replace Whit soon, and possibly both corners, and who knows how much longer Wittle has. With that said, we had three vets on the OL to replace and we replaced two. Center is an upgrade and guard is a downgrade. Of course when you have one of the best guards in the game the hope is to find a servicable replacement. This is still TBD.
