Maybe but not to that extreme. mcVay has run a balanced offense

The game flow just didn't call for a bunch of runs.....TB has the number one rush defense in NFL and like 29th pass defense - it was the right game script.

Only team in NFL history to have 68 pass attempts and only 12 rushing attempts? There is a reason why. It doesn't lead to victories. This teams identity isn't even close to that of a fun and gun, or run and shoot or the bear raid or whatever Kingsbury is running.

Now in 2017 McVay passed 55.85% of the time. Good for 23rd.
In 2018 McVay passed 56.41% of the time. Good for 24th.
In 2019 McVay is passing 65.11% of the time. Good for 7th.

Anyone curious who are the 6 teams ahead of the Rams?

1. Cinn. 0-3
2. Atl. 1-3
3. Ariz. - 0-3-1
4. Wash. 0-4
5. Mia. 0-4
6. Pitt. 0-3

I know those are some bad teams. But thats part of what makes them bad. That is a combined record of 1-20-1

Giants are 8th, Jets are 9th and KC is 10th. Only 2 winning records.

And even if TB is the #1 run defense. McVay isn't game planning around that. Last year in the NO (#2 run defense) playoff game, the Rams passed 41 times against 26 runs. Thats a 61/39 pass/run ratio, Not nearly as bad as yesterday. And against the 8th rated Dallas run defense in the playoffs: 28 passes to 48 runs. or 37/63 pass/run ratio.

McVay doesn't abandon the run and he sure isn't scared of top rated run defenses.

Honestly 2k, now that I've had a day to think about it. I think there are a bunch of factors that are increasing the passing percentage in McVays offense:

1. Gurley is not right. He has seemed off all season, and the last part of last season. You thought he looked fine. Waterfield said he looked bad yesterday. So its anyone's guess what his deal is. But the Rams didn't give him 48m to be a decoy...

2. The line is not as far along as McVay was hoping/thinking it would be. Its a problem and you cannot run without some holes.

3. McVay either underestimated the amount of teams that would run a 6-1 against him, or his adjustments, at least as far as running the football against it, aren't working.

4. McVay is also losing offensive coaches as fast as he can hire them, and it is taking its toll on continuity.

I get that they got down early, but with so much time left, they didn't need to abandon the run. Est. the run, even a little bit might have bought the defense a desperately needed breather.

And if I am still being honest, if I am a DC, I am licking my chops to play the Rams because I don't need to worry about TG at all, and I can just spend my afternoon dialing up blitzes up the middle to smash Goff.
