A Niner fan knows his team belongs in San Francisco and he is most likely to wear a Niner jersey to go to the market if he lives in San Fran. because he feels at home and likely to meet other Niner fans there. Simply put-he feels he belongs. If he moves to So Cal his Niner fandom won't go away but the feeling of belonging -in a sport sense-will. Of course there are exceptions like anything else. I would venture a guess there are plenty of Ram fans in the central valley but are not as likely to wear a Ram jersey at Walmart in Coalinga than as if they lived in Los Angeles, or Orange County, or for that matter anywhere in So Cal.
