The situation: Our forum software is very, very dated. Hence.. none of the new and fancy features you see on other forums. Especially in regards to 'mobile' use. We are MORE than aware of this... but we are caught between a rock and a hard place.

We have been researching this for years, yes... literally YEARS. FULLY THREADED VIEW like we currently use is simply NOT available on any of the dozens, maybe hundreds, of the current Forum Software platforms.

We want YOUR opinion on this. But you'll have to bear with me here because this is NOT the easiest thing to explain.. not for me anyway.

It all comes down to this... FULLY THREADED VIEW, (like this current forum), vs FLAT VIEW... nearly every other forum on the web AND THE ONLY VIEW available on ALL new forum software.

You know what this forum looks like, I won't bother providing a photo for an example. In all likelihood you know what FLAT looks like since nearly every other forum on the web used this view. BUT... I'll try to give you an example.

When you open a specific forum on this board... like this one or the Pub... with FLAT VIEW this is what you'd see when you open the forum:

when you click a specific thread, (topic), you know what you see here... with FLAT VIEW you'd see this:

NO INDENTATION with FLAT VIEW... all replies, including the original topic starter, are aligned LEFT... to see who is replying to who you almost HAVE to use the quote feature with every reply.

The question for YOU... by way of a POLL... new software definitely adds many more modern features, ESPECIALLY with MOBILE use... BUT... there is no FULLY THREADED option with any new forum software package.
