How about Jalen Ramsey?
I may like the Ramsey option less. His contract ends after 2020 and he will cost $13M next year. If the goal is to switch him in for Peters after this year that's fine but we wouldn't be saving much money if any. And he comes with the same immaturity issues.
He doesn't really help us this year because the secondary is our greatest strength at the moment.
The other consideration is, it's a good idea to reserve trade assets for a player at a position of need. What if Brockers gets hurt or a good vet Dlinemen comes available? That's a position that could use some bolstering.
If they use those valuable assets for a player that essentially only helps the future, they may be in a tough spot if they need to make a trade for competing this year. This is especially true for a SB team. This year is the focus. There is a reason why Snead has never traded for a player at a position that wasn't a weakness
at that moment. So if the price was absurdly low like a 5th, then sure, let's do it. But it won't be that low.
Rams are not only good in the secondary they are deep in the secondary. Add to that their years-long penchant for finding DBs. Without spending a single 1st round pick.
And now all of a sudden they are very promising and (looks like) deep at LB.
Not on the DL. They are still not quite set at NT (could just be waiting on Gaines). At DE Brockers is getting beat up again and behind him is just Fox, who is a bit underweight to be a true base 3/4 DE.
The problem is, while you can find DBs in lower rounds--Rams have been doing it--you can simply not count on finding a lower-round 3/4 DE who will play well as a rookie. If you need a rookie DE, then, you have to use a high pick.
So I sez, save resources to re-stock the DL.
