Jeesh, this is way overblown. The first-time starters on the D include Hager and Joseph-Day. Surrounded by 9 veteran starters and some other veteran role players like Christian. That's 2 of 11 and they happen to play positions which get replaced when the Rams shift out of their base defense--and they are likely to play their base 3/4 far less this year than they did last year.
In contrast, here are the first time starters from the Rams 99 defense: McCleon, Jenkins, Fletcher, Wistrom. And the Rams 99 defense at most replaced Fletcher when they were in the nickel. That defense was ranked 6th in yards and 4th in points.
I mean. C'mon. It's no big deal.
