Don't get me wrong.....Clowney is a starting NFL player, but he's frequently injured and does not play like a #1 pick. I mean, he's been playing opposite JJ Watt and has not put up historical stats. Correct?
There's a thousand reasons why a team parts with a player, like Oakland did with Mack. Doesn't make O'brien a better judge of defensive talent than Carroll, who in fact has a long proven track record when it comes to judging that.
