There would be minimum blocking as he would crash into the line. Waiting for him would be the entire defense, all the opponents' coaches, all the opponents' players from the sidelines, plus a few spectators. I would say that, in those days, the Rams' offense was somewhat predictable. Despite maximum effort, SJ would usually wind up with only a yard or two. I really felt sorry for the guy.
