I agree. He's the type of veteran Patriots' signing that could really help them or not make their 53 at all..
I also liked him overall as a role player with the Rams. He had some brutal drops over the years- 2015 vs PIT, 2016 vs CAR and 2016 @ NE (resulting in Goff INT) just to name a few. He was one of those guys you'd look at as a low-end starter but high-end TE2.
That's the funny thing about some players. People remember the bad plays.
I remember lots of good plays with Kendricks, like the brilliant wham block he did which freed a TD run against the 9ers in 2012, or (also in 2012) the seam catch that allowed the Rams to win in the last minute against Buffalo.
I think that was the case with LK. People remember some bad plays, and that drowns out everything else. Meanwhile, objectively, he was a good role player, as you say.
Or let's put it this way. He was SO bad he was signed by Green Bay then New England.
Hint: genuinely BAD players don't get signed by anyone.
