Fear the Poet

Thanks for the interesting trivia. I googled the mascot to see what it looks like. To me the character looks more like a swashbuckler than a poet. I'm sure his facial expression has changed over the years to become more menacing-looking. The ink pen he carries looks like it could be one serious weapon. Maybe that's because "the pen is mightier than the sword"!!


I learned this, too:

Whittier College and its home city of Whittier, California were named for Quaker poet and abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier. The college was historically Quaker as well, and it seemed like Poets was a great fit for a school named after a poet.
