Directv lost over 1 million subscribers last year, so it's difficult for them to afford a heftly raise in subscriber fees demanded by CBS Channel 2 in Los Angeles. They take the position that, in this era of streaming services, why should they pay more for Channel 2 content that people are watching less and less. CBS, on the other hand, says that Directv is paying the same fee as in 2012, so a hefty raise is due. If this dispute spills over into the football season, Directv stands to lose even more subscribers (football fans).
