John Johnson III will be on the same side of the field as Weddle and Matthews this season and he can’t wait to get started with both players joining the defense. On NFL Network’s “Total Access,” Johnson raved about both players for the experience they bring and the athleticism they still possess.
“You can just tell those guys are pros, they take care of their bodies, they go about their business the right way,” Johnson said. “I’m really surprised how athletic they still are. They’re 10-plus years, and they move like they’re third-, fourth-year guys. So that’s a true testament of how professional they are.”
Speaking specifically about Weddle, Johnson is excited to play next to him in the secondary. The duo of Weddle and Johnson is already viewed as one of the best in the league, giving the Rams a terrific tandem in the back end of the defense.
