no way around it

Our current oline has two starters penciled in who have never started an NFL game. Our top three backups are two rookies and Demby our 6th round pick from last year. The other Rams onlinemen who are not rookies are Neary with one start (game 16 against SF in 2017 when we benched our starters) and Kolone who was on the practice squad last year. One often hears about how olinemen have to have experience working with each for stunts, getting a feel for when the man next to them needs help, etc. Even if Notebook and the others play well, their lack of experience will lead to some busted plays. I worry that the lack of game time experience and online continuity will be problematic.

According to a study done a decade ago, since the era of free agency and the cap began, teams have had to cope with line change: "Since free agency began in 1993, teams have averaged 1.75 new starters per year." [sports.espn.go.com]

I don't know how well the 3.5 changes every 2 years number holds up now, but, let's just round it off and say it's normal for an NFL OL to change up to 3 starters every 2 years.

That's every OL in the league, at least on average.

So OL coaches need to be able to prep and then start young linemen every year.

We're about to find out how good the Rams are at that.
