Three Rams make NFL 'All-Small Team'

By: Cameron DaSilva | 2 hours ago

The biggest players aren’t always the best ones in the NFL. In fact, many of the game’s elite are somewhat undersized compared to others at their position – players such as Drew Brees, Russell Wilson and Aaron Donald.

Andy Benoit of The MMQB set out to find the best undersized players in football, creating an “All-Small Team.” It consists of players who are “notably lighter and shorter than the average height and weight of players at his position.”

Not surprisingly, Donald made the list at defensive tackle, but he wasn’t the only Rams representative. Brandin Cooks was selected at wide receiver, being just 5-foot-10, 183 pounds. Nickell Robey-Coleman also made the squad, standing only 5-foot-8, 180 pounds. Robey-Coleman is one of the smallest players in the league regardless of position.

Donald is arguably the best player in the league despite being 6-foot-1, 280 pounds. That’s far smaller than the average defensive tackle, but he doesn’t let his smaller stature stop him from dominating.

Last season, Donald set the single-season sack record by a DT with 20.5 sacks. He won Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season and now has five Pro Bowl selections in five years.

Donald is well on his way to being a future Hall of Famer, already racking up 59.5 sacks in his career. If he retired tomorrow, he’d get consideration for Canton, which makes his slide to No. 13 in the 2014 NFL draft that much more surprising in hindsight.
