People talk a lot more about the 1989 MNF game vs the 49ers. But as awful as that loss was it cost the Rams nothing but home field for the wildcard game vs. Philly.
In 1986, though, had the Rams not lost to New England on that hail mary they would have won the NFC West. In fact it would have been locked up before the season finale @SF. San Francisco would have played at Washington and the Rams at NYG. Now of course the Rams probably get their doors blown off like the 49ers did (49-3), but still... would have been back-to-back division titles.
