In the NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints with the Rams down 13-0 early in the second quarter, the Rams did a fake punt and Shields caught the ball from Johnny Hekker for 12 yards to help the Rams get their first score of the game. The Rams went on to win in overtime 26-23 to advance to Super Bowl LIII.
