I think the over supply of Safeties in Free Agency created an artificial drop in the value of safeties in the draft. Just like with stocks sometimes Mr. Market does't like a stock or a sector of stocks and when that happens there is value. I think that is what happened with the safeties in this years draft as the Free Agent over supply depressed their value in the draft and there were bargains all the way into the 5th round. Rapp at the end of round 2 should turn out to be a steal.
I don't think that was it. I think the drop was temporary, artificial, and not real. Either way it had nothing to do with the football value of the position. It has as much football value as ever.
