Why Kromer wants non-centers to learn to play all 4 positions.

Interesting what he said and it explains why the Rams seem to prefer college OTs to OGs. OG's are limited to 3 positions at best (both OGs and Center). But OTs can (theoretically) be crossed trained for both OT spots and both OG spots.

He wants his non-Centers to play all 4 positions because 1) they can find out which position suits them best, 2) they learn how to play NFL style football, and 3) by learning all the positions they better know the "why" behind the way each position is asked to do what they do.

It goes without saying that it also means on game day you can suit up only 2 back-ups. An OT who can can play both sides and OG. And a center who can play both OGs.
