Why did the Rams draft Henderson?
1. He is a play maker and adds a new dimension to the offense and can be a change of pace: Yes
2. Rams need another RB and all the current RB are power back types: Yes
3. Gurley wore down during the season and they want to balance his workload: Yes
4. Insurance in case Gurley knee acts up Henderson can provide offensive balance with Brown: Yes
5. McVay wanted another play maker to make the offense go and personally got involved in select the right guy: Yes
I think there are a bunch of good reasons why the fell in love with Henderson and chose him. I think it is a over reaction to assume this means there is a problem with Gurley and that it will linger all year long. I may be a reflection on John Kelly but I think it is more likely that they want to bring another dimension to the offense and McVay has a plan and sees how to use Henderson as a change of pace type of weapon and do so right off the bat.
The only thing that has people wondering what is going on is the squirrelly manner in which the Rams have discussed the Gurley situation. They have not really talked about it in a way that people understand or believe what they are saying which is out of character for Snead and McVay.
