Last year, the Rams drafted guys in round 3/4/5 (Noteboom, Allen, Franklin, Kiser, Ogbo) and more-or-less redshirted them for the year.
I doubt a round 2 OL will play this year, so in essence a redshirt year again. Wouldn't they prefer to redshirt players drafted in the middle to later rounds, and get value from the higher-round picks?
This is why I think they will draft 2 IOL players later in the round. They will need to groom one to take over for Noteboom when he moves out to Tackle after Whit retires.
I wouldn’t assume that a highly drafted O’linemen wouldn’t play this year. Yes, Snead has said the plan is to redshirt some players from this draft just like they did last year but IMO a really good guard or center would likely start over Blythe or Allen.
Also, when Snead spoke of redshirting this draft, he didn’t only refer to the OL. Why do you feel that we’d get more value from a high round pick at some other position? What positions are really available for a new draftee to come in and immediately start?
All I see is maybe IOL and maybe IDL.
