such an incredibly hard thing to gauge

April 20, 2019 07:18AM
I don't have the answers as to how, but I would like to see a strength of schedule that factors in and weights much more than 2018 W/L records. In the Rams' case, does anyone think the 49ers will be a 4-12 caliber team again in 2019? I sure don't.

Digging into how hard or easy a schedule may or may not be, in my opinion, should include things like:
- Games where the opponent is coming off their bye week
- Games where you or the opponent is on it's 2nd or even 3rd straight road game
- Thursday Night games- no matter who you are you are at a disadvantage if you are the road team on Thursday Night.
- cold or hot weather game likelihood (i.e. playing at Miami or Tampa in September, Green Bay or New England in December, etc.)

I look at the 1999 season. ONE injury made our schedule MUCH easier.
