So much for the retirement party
[
www.nfl.com]
I was one of the ones who pointed out that the Monday press conference was several players, not just Gurley. That was to help calm the speculation that maybe something out of the ordinary was happening.
I did that without making fun of the posters who speculated about retirement. That wasn't necessary so easy to avoid doing it.
Keeping the same tone, let me point something else out. Regardless what McVay says now, if wear and tear of some kind did lead to Gurley missing time (and whatever it is, it started in game 1), then it's likely there is an issue---and if there is an issue, then Snead's comments about keeping his carries down as opposed to 2018, are likely valid. That remains to be seen; either way I certainly wouldn't rule it out.
That's just a reasonable expression of where things likely stand right now.
So no laugh smileys. This ain't that kind of issue.

Sorry, but some of us got a chuckle with the retirement announcement TMZ like post
I didn't see anybody making fun of anybody
I think it's a very narrow distinction between making fun of someone and laughing at them (or "getting a chuckle" out of them + ROFL smiley). I suspect that if someone said they got a chuckle out of a comment of yours (and we
all have posts that could be read that way if someone else wanted to), chances are you wouldn't take it as a purely neutral comment.
Meanwhile, back to the actual issues, it is also true that regardless of McVay's comment about Gurley, there are also signs that they are concerned about managing his playing time. I mean he had a painful and inflamed knee in game 1, not just near the end of the season. So that very well could be a real issue.
