2015 had 2 legit starters and for many drafts the majority of those players are not even on the team (or NFL). 2013-2015 (not that long ago) only 3 players are on the team out of all those drafts. By the way, that is with extra draft picks.
Many players McVay has picked up though free agency: Suh, Peters, Talib, Weddle, Matthews, Fowler, Whitworth, Sullivan. Simply put, more than those drafts.
That said, you yourself mentioned a 40% hit rate, which is 2 or maybe 3 players making the team out of each draft. Many are saying all these players will now make the team from recent draft when a 40 year history of drafts says, no. They are not being red shirted, simply they can't beat out a starter (which I understand a 6th round probably wont) . I just don't see many of the 6 6th and 7th rounders being here, especially since they never started and the majority never even saw the field. I think most will be bounced by the new draft class. You roll the dice and hope you hit gold or they can develop.....most do not.
