This all sounds great but there has been a total of two FAs that have been signed so far this year. One is a 34 year old safety and the other is a QB that "lost" his starting job. Not to sure how much of a market they were going to have. Its not like FAs are lining up at the door to come play for McVay and taking less $$$. Can other teams that have signed several FAs not say the same thing about their coach?
As the 'ol saying goes "Money talks and you know what walks.....
Well, Fowler did accept a 1 year prove it contract with McVay when he coulda gone elsewhere for multiyear security.
Weddle reportedly had 11 offers within days, but McVay blew him away. Signed first visit, never even talked to another team.
Bortles reportedly had at least 3 teams interested, including 2 that were dangling possible starter status, yet he signed in first visit after being impressed by McVay. He, too, never even talked to another team.
Anybody else seeing a pattern here?
Rams have limited FA funds but they’re 3 for 3 on the guys they really pursued.
I predict more of the same later when pursuing 2nd-3rd tier scraps after the draft and upon final cutdowns.
McVay is worth his weight in gold and on multiple levels.
