Only doing 3 this year.
The first pick is a big deal, because if we don't go edge there, the odds of finding someone who can contribute this year and be ready to start and have an impact next year. The main thing I WANT is to give AD someone who will make noise so that he's not the lone pressure. I am not satisfied with Fowler ... he's inconsistent. Ebukam just isn't talented enough.
So the first pick seems to be "trade down and take an edge" ... unless Dexter Lawrence is there. I'm not going to assume he is. So we're going to trade down a few spots and get an extra 4th. I can't in good conscience take anyone else with the top pick.
2) Winovich, Edge, Michigan. I think there is more Clay Matthews in this kid than in Clay Matthews right now. He played a ton of football in multiple spots. He is high motor, high effort, high endurance ... AND he has great speed and power. I think he's being rated lower than his ability. Also? He plays scary. And crazy.
3) Daylon Mack NT ... The sheer power of this wall of human is special. He also moves much better laterally than I expected. Note: I think Saunders goes earlier than this and I don't know if I'd take Mack over him.
2nd half of the video is better than the first, start in the middle.
3) Connor McGovern IL ... can play any interior line spot.
4) Corey Ballantine/Jordan Brown CB .... one should be there. This is a redshirt pick, kinda like Trumaine Johnson who needed a year to get pro ready after being at a D2 school.
4) Tommy Sweeny TE ... Big, can block, has great hands and body control. Plays angry.
5) Safety ... Will Harris/Amani Hooker/Mike Edwards ... One will be there. Harris' 4.41 may bump him, along with the fact that he is a BC safety that used to be a CB and JJ3 has made a name for himself after doing that.
6) Brett Rypien ... accurate calm intelligent QB. One who will not only be able to come in and win a game ... but someone who can help Jared with strategy on the bench.
7) Ubosi UAB WR ... Project that can start on teams and battle Khadarell Hodge.
Questions and comments welcome. I think there will be plenty of UDFA talent as well on both lines ... Im looking at Olive Sagopolu DT among lots of DBs and Interior Linemen.
I doubt we use any draft pick on a tight end...unless it's in the 6th our 7th... we simply have too much potential depth spots we can fill on this draft...particularly on the offensive line....
3rd string TE shouldn't be a priority in the draft right now
