for the players to visit, look the staff in the eye, and to get that feel for each other. If you don't do that, guess what? It's all about the money.
Look at the Rams' best signing in year one of the McVay regime: Whit. He bonded with McVay and bought in and the Rams have gotten their money's worth on the field. Same thing with Woods, these guys sat down and talked ball with McVay and felt that mutual desire to work together, it wasn't just a oh boy I'm gettin PAID $$$ thing.
The Weddle signing wasn't a perfect thing, from a fit perspective with him being older and not the same guy. But it was cheap and there was that mutual buy-in in person between him and McVay as well as the rest of the staff. This is why it's going to work for us IMO.
Re: Pat Kirwan I don't like the way he gets so much info fed to him from Pete. But he does put out a lot of good stuff and I think he's onto something there.
