The top 2 or 3 will go on the first day of FA, if there is not a big rush after that then teams can drop the pay and wait out the players. That happened last year. If that was because teams all decided that safety is not a place to invest big bucks, then we should see the same thing occur this year. On the other hand, if the teams were told not to sign any safeties to big contracts to kill a collusion claim against Reid then this year we may not see a repeat. If there is a big run on safeties and/or the safety salaries jump up a lot this year, it really means that the teams WERE intentionally not paying any safeties to try to mask not paying Reid last year.
