Gurley's Ailing Knee Could Be A Sore Point For The Rams Financially

As Los Angeles turns from its disappointing Super Bowl loss to the Patriots it's coming to grips with something else. That it was likely premature in making Gurley the highest-paid running back in NFL history.

In a preemptive strike last offseason, years before LA had to pay its star, Gurley signed a four-year, $57.5 million extension, $45 million of which was guaranteed. That secured one of the league's premier backs to the Rams through the 2023 season.

Here are the Cap Hits for Gurley if they had to release him in the following years:

2020: $12.6 mil
2021: $8.4 mil
2022: $4.2 mil
