always there in middle of things (locker room speeches) and I believe he was a captain
if they can work with his salary........
AO was also called the "heart and soul" of the defense. Intangibles are important but they've shown that those won't stop from making necessary moves.
AO did not fit the scheme and there were definite replacements in line.
Brockers does fit the scheme and it's not at all clear there's a player behind him who can play his role as the strongside DE.
We don't know what they think about that---they could believe that the relatively lighter and inexperienced John F-M could handle that role, or they could still prefer the bigger and more experienced Brockers, who for all we know (a) may have had a relatively down year but can still play, or (b) has fallen off. We have no idea what they think about all that.
But AO was not a scheme fit, which made him expendable, and that's not true of MB.
....
I disagree on the definite replacements aspect. Littleton hadn't shown any more than JFM did this last year.
Besides, while your points have merit, they are irrelevant to the point of my post: the intangible of being a leader, even the biggest leader on the unit, isn't enough.
