Pats focused on having their D-line blow up the trenches.....which they did. They knew Goff didn't have one of his security blankets in Kupp. The other was Woods....so they double teamed him all game. They took their chances single covering Cooks....but just got physical with him when needed. It almost blew up on them because Goff managed to get Cooks the ball at/near the endzone twice (albeit a hair too late on one).....but their physical play jarred the ball away from Cooks.
The last wildcard was how to deal with Gurley. But as we found out....Gurley was not mid-year Gurley.....so that became a non-issue. They Pats knew by halftime that Gurley was not going to have an impact...so they continued to just gun for Goff in the second half.
So....as Polian mentioned.......blow up the O-line....and the scheme doesn't even matter. It would tend to agree. It just seemed like Goff just could never come up for air to even think. He was under constant pressure.
In the end...it came down to which team can make a few plays. The Pats got two plays to Gronk, which set them up for the TD. The Rams just couldn't finish on either of it's plays (to Cooks).
