Former NBA star Kobe Bryant's sports analysis program, Detail, enjoyed widespread praise and success in its first season. And now Bryant's efforts to expand the program will include a football-themed show hosted by former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.
Manning will collaborate with NFL Films and Granity Studios, the latter of which Bryant founded, and share his insights on the sport in an eight-episode series only available on ESPN+.
“I’ve always enjoyed talking football with coaches, players and passionate fans, and that’s at the core of this show,” Manning said in a release. “I’m honored to help expand Kobe’s Detail to a football audience.”
The first show will air Thursday, Oct. 18, and analyze how Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen performed against the Minnesota Vikings this past weekend.
“The concept behind Detail is centered around helping athletes get better, so it made perfect sense to expand the show to other sports,” said Bryant, also the executive producer of Detail, in a release. “Peyton was my first call to be the NFL athlete due to his unrelenting preparation and study of his craft. The next generation of football players will learn first-hand how one of the greatest players of all time objectively breaks down a game. It’s the ultimate film session for anyone who wants to learn and improve.”
Manning's 18-year career in the NFL saw him win the Most Valuable Player award five times, throw for 71,940 yards and toss 539 touchdowns. He retired after the 2015 season after a brief stint with the Denver Broncos.
Manning won a Super Bowl with the Colts and the Broncos. Both the University of Tennessee and Colts retired his number, 16 and 18, respectively, and he is a member of the Colts' Ring of Honor.
