You did the right thing. Whether it's turning down a dinner or any number of things that could come up, this is one of those moments where what you want is the only thing that matters. You should do it your way for an event like this. It's ok to be selfish when the Rams are in the Super Bowl. Maybe invite them over the next week for dinner to make up for it or take them out or something.
