Appreciating the Adversity we Overcame

With so much focus on the PI penalty the entire football world seems to have ignored what a tremendous achievement and the magnitude of the Rams victory over New Orleans.

Can you imagine a more hostile environment to play in? Never in all of football has the crowd noise affected the game so greatly. Going against the number 1 ranked team in football, with a Hall of Fame QB and a all time great coach says something about this young Ram team and their young coach. Being down 13-0 in such a hostile environment and coming back to win is truly amazing. Seeing the contributions from so many young inexperienced players is also truly amazing.

It really is a shame that most people around the football world are missing out on what a great game the Rams played in a pressure packed hostile environment. How all of our units did a great job during the game. I cannot imagine a more difficult assignment than going beating New Orleans in that environment after being down by 13. It is a tribute to this team that they did not get rattled, that the moment wasn't too big for them. In hindsight it was an amazing game.

The adversity this team faced after losing to Chicago and Philly with the Goff mini slump and Gurley being hurt has been a blessing in disguise. What I love about this team is that they have stayed disciplined and focused despite things not going their way. As a young team it is important to go through trials and to be tested. In the book of James it says to rejoice in your trials because it produces endurance and patience which will have their perfect work. Those trials and the trial in New Orleans has made us ready for the big game.

So it is great that we are going to the Super Bowl but we have already accomplished a great deal and the team has proven itself and is peaking at just the right time. Be thankful for the trials that we have been through because they will help us on Feb 3.

Anyway it seems that many missed the diamond because it has not been cut and shined. Perhaps this is a blessing too. People would be talking about what a great comeback victory we had and how great the team and maybe that would let the guard down for a few. Maybe the expectations are a little lower coming into the game and the pressure is on New England to show how great they are. Well the young lion is battle tested and has been found to be a great fighter and it is time for him to take over the pride after his battle with the current king. I am glad we are ready for the fight!!!
