I can wrap my head around that analogy, like a golf ball in flight with a left or right spin, or even a cue ball with english on it.
But I have a more difficult time understanding the physics of this, applied to a football.
If the football remained vertical in flight (top point staying on top, and bottom point staying on bottom), with only a clockwise or counterclockwise horizontal rotation, then I can understand the curved flight.
But if the ball is spinning clockwise or counterclockwise (due to how the kicker kicked it or where the laces were placed) PLUS an end over end motion in flight, thats where my level of understanding the physics starts to fade...
